Safety Pin Day


     I do not use them very often but I can still be thankful for them and so can you. Today is safety Pin Day. For me at least, the number one use I can remember for safety pins was to hold on diapers – I out grew them a couple years ago :)

     Have you ever been a tourist? My touring is normally limited in range to the state of Minnesota and never the world but I know those who have been around the world as in away from here and also those that have come from around the world to here. It is enjoyable to see other areas of the world and visit with those who are from other areas. Today is World Tourism Day so lets be thankful for tourism.

     I know I enjoy apple pie and of course, apple pie is made from apples from which many other things are made and of course apples come from apple trees, trees that at some point in time had to have been planted. Today is Johnny Appleseed Day and I think most of us know that he was famous for planting apple trees. Today we will be thankful for him and all others that plant apple trees.

First Day Of Autumn


     Today marks the first day of Autumn or the beginning of fall. Do you enjoy Autumn, when the temps drop below freezing, the leaves on the trees turn colors and fall to the ground, crops are harvested, hunting seasons commence, houses and yards are prepared for winter, holidays start knocking at the door, and snow starts to fall. What a time of the year to be thankful for.

     It's International Eat An Apple Day. I'm not eating any apples today though. How many of us enjoy eating apples or something made with apples like apple pie or apple sauce or apple turnovers or ..... maybe just an apple. I remember having an apple as a child that was huge and I didn't want to eat it, just admire it. I finally ate it. Today, lets be thankful for apples.

     I have friends that have or do work for the railroad, I've had friends that have built model railroads and I can remember thinking how fun it would be to build one. National Play-Doh Day


     Who remembers playing with Play-Doh? I can still remember and I remember having fun. My kids play with it now and they to have fun. The biggest problem is once you mix it it doesn't separate very well and it does tend to dry out when you forget to take care of it. Problems aside, are you thankful for Play-Doh? Today is a good day to be for it is National Play-Doh Day.

Citizenship Day


     Being a citizen can have it's advantages. When I think of citizenship, I think of Paul in the Bible and how he was a Roman citizen and that brought with it special advantages. It is Citizenship Day a day we can use to be thankful for our citizenship. Both here on earth and in heaven.

Collect Rocks Day


     I have kids who like to collect rocks and today is Collect Rocks Day. With in the last couple of weeks they were at our local corn maze and they were selling little colored rocks all polished up and they bought some. Often times they are picking them up from the gravel in the driveway. But where ever they get them, they like rocks so today we can be thankful for rocks.

Positive Thinking Day


     How do you think positive? When playing soccer One of the things I try to do is get the kids thinking in a positive way before the games starts and through the game for if you think negatively, we're going to lose, we hurt our selves. Thinking positive may not always lead you to the outcome you desire but it helps to set you on the right path and makes life much more enjoyable. Today is Positive Thinking Day so let's be positive and be thankful that we can.

Swap Ideas Day


     Today is Swap Ideas Day a day to swap ideas or at least be thankful for ideas and that we can share them with others. When I'm working at my job, coming up with ideas and sharing them or swapping them is par for the course. I'm thankful I can share with others and others share with me when it comes to ideas.

Teddy Bear Day


     It is Teddy Bear Day. Do you have a teddy bear? I don't but I may have had one when I was little. I remember two big ones that were at my grand parents house. I had other stuffed animals that I do remember, mainly a stuffed tiger that was about 6 feet long from tip to tip. Are you thankful for teddy bears? Are you thankful for any other stuffed animal?
