National Trail Mix Day

     Today is National Trail Mix Day. And if you like to eat Trail Mix then today is your day so grab a handful, chow away and remember to be thankful for the mix.

National Toasted Marshmallow Day

     Anybody for marshmallows? Toasted light brown on a campfire? Today is National Toasted Marshmallow Day. Growing up as a kid, I remember toasting marshmallows not over a campfire but over the charcoal grill on Sunday afternoons and one could never seem to make them fast enough or get enough. Today, let's be thankful for this delicious treat.

Mary Poppins Day

     Have you ever watched Mary Poppins? Today is her day. I can remember watching that show many times but don't ask me how to spell super....... The show is full of fun songs and a wonderful uplift and since today is Mary Poppins Day, last be thankful for that.

Dream Day

     We all have dreams, some for the good and some not. Often times we have dreams that we would like to see come true. To day is a day to be thankful for dreams.

Banana Lover's Day

     They are yellow or at least they are on the outside when they are eaten. They are bananas and to day is Banana Lover's Day. At our house, bananas are eaten as bananas or in various types of banana bread and once in a while as a banana split or in a pizza (fruit pizza) so today let's be thankful for bananas.

National Dog Day

     We have one at our house. The one we have is an Australian Shepherd. The kids enjoy him but he wouldn't make for a hunting dog. One of the two dogs I remember from childhood was a hunting dog, the other I'm told I used to play tug a war with pulling on a toy mouse with the mouth. Today is National Dog Day so we will use today to be thankful for dogs.

Kiss and Make Up Day

     Sometimes in life things go awry and we need to “kiss and make up” or in other words fix a broken relation ship, etc. It usually means admitting being wrong and asking for forgiveness. It also means being willing to forgive. If no-one ever did this, well, let's not think about it and just be thankful that we can for today is Kiss and Make Up Day.

National Waffle Day

     I remember a day when I was a child when we gathered at my great grand parents' farm for some kinf of reunion or something and there was a waffle feed. All you could eat waffles and chances are the syrup was home made maple syrup as my great grandfather had a big vat in the woods for boiling down the sap from the maple trees. Today is National Waffle Day. I like mine with maple syrup but I know there are others who like different toppings on them. What ever you likeon them, we can be thankful for waffles.

National Sponge Cake Day

     Need a bite to eat? How about some sponge cake for today is National Sponge Cake Day. Whether it be sponge cake or any other kind of cake, let's be thankful for the cakes we eat.

Be An Angel Day

     Have you ever been told you're an angel? Today is Be An Angel Day. What does it mean to be an angel? For some it means simply being good and not getting into trouble but more often it means being some kind of helper. Are you thankful for those who have been angels to you?

Poet's Day

     Today is Poet's Day. Poetry comes to us in various ways and I've even tried to write it at times. No, I'm not going to share it here but today we can be thankful for poetry and for those who write it.

Soccer

     Where we are, we started our home school soccer league last night. I have two coaches to help me this year and about 30 kids. How we will do this season I do not know but I am thankful for those hwo have come out to play and for those who ave come to help.

Cup Cake Day

     It is Cup Cake Day. Does anyone enjoy eating these? Does anyone enjoy making them? I can remember having lots of fun at Grandma's house as a kid decorating cupcakes in all kinds of weird colors. They looked disgusting sometimes but they tasted good. Today we can be thankful for cup cakes.

Mail Order Catalog Day

      I think we call it junk mail now days..... Today is Mail Order Catalog Day. Now days when I need to order something I go on the Internet but it used to be through mail order catalogs. I still get a few catalogs and once in a great while I may still order from one but even though I don't, they are still fun to look through. So for their use and enjoyment, I'll be thankful for.

Archeology Day

     Today is Archeology Day. Have you ever thought about being thankful for archeology? Archeology, archaeologists, dig up the past and try to piece things together to make a story about the past. Many an honest archaeologist has dug up confirming evidence of the truth of God's word to help bolster our faith and that is definitely something to be thankful for.

Roller coaster Day

     Up, Up, Up, Up and ddddoooooowwwwwnnnnnnn. Up, Up, Up, Up and ddddoooooowwwwwnnnnnnn. It is Roller coaster Day. I've been on a few and while they have lost their appeal to me I think I can remember them as being fun. If you have ever enjoyed a roller coaster ride, today is the day for being thankful for them.

National Relaxation Day

     I can't do it yet but to day is National Relaxation Day. I'll have to wait till I'm off from work to see if I can relax. How many of us enjoy times of relaxation? How many of us are thankful for those times.

National Creamsicle Day

     Cold treats on a hot day? How about a Creamsicle? Are you thankful for sweet treats such as these? It's National Creamsicle Day.

International Left Handers Day

     Today is International Left Handers Day. I'm right handed but I know those who are left handed further more, I do have a left hand. I have heard it joked that the right side of the brain controls the left hand so that left handed people are the only people in their right brain but weather or not that is true, I'll be thankful for left handers and left hands and right hands as well.

Vinyl Record Day

     I suppose there are many now that do not even know what a Vinyl Record is or was. I used to have many of them but I got rid of them. Some days I wish I still had them but then I would need a record player and a place to put them. I did enjoy them while I had them and yes I am thankful for them. Today is their day for it is Vinyl Record Day.

Play in the Sand Day

     One of my childhood memories revolves around a rather large sandbox that wasn't really a sandbox. Well, I guess there was a box but why stick to the box for digging holes and making roads and bridges and volcanoes and burring brothers.... Do you love playing in the sand? Are you thankful for sand to play in? Today is Play in the Sand Day.

S'mores Day

     I have a song on a veggie tales CD that talks about Graham crackers, chocolate bars and marshmallows. And putting them together makes a sticky treat. It's S'mores Day. Do you want toeat one? Are you thankful for them?

Book Lover's Day

     Today is Book Lover's Day. If you enjoy books, today is your day. I don'[t know if I would call my save a book lover but I do enjoy reading from time to time and so do many of my kids. We are well known at the library and we have a pretty good collection of books – mostly for kids. So today let's be thankful for books.

Dollar Day

     There isn't much you ca by for a dollar any more but … Today is dollar day and while a dollar may not be much on its own, they add up. I know we are not to make money a god but it is something we need and use and since I have some I'll be thankful for them, will you?

Lighthouse Day

     I've seen movies revolving around them, I've heard them being sung about, I've seen many pictures of them and I've even seen one in person I just didn't get close enough to go in. Today is Lighthouse Day and while I may be able to enjoy them from afar, there are many who have had their lives saved as a result of a working lighthouse. Today we can be thankful for lighthouses.

Wiggle Your Toes Day

     Go ahead and do it. Wiggle your toes. It is Wiggle Your Toes Day. Have you ever taken the time to not just wiggle your toes but to be thankful for them.

Underwear Day

     It is Underwear Day today, a day to be thankful for underwear. But I would like to focus on a couple other things this day. Over the weekend we were at a music festival and I would like to be thankful this day for the wonderful music, those that worked hard to put the festival on and for making it home even after our van died and wouldn't start. A hose had come loose and with the help of a dime it was put back on and tightened. Though I'm not a mechanic, I would say God helped me see the issue and come up with a solution.

Friendship Day

     Today is Friendship Day and this weekend we have been camping at a music festival – mostly bluegrass – and while there we have been having the opportunity to visit with friends. How many of us have friends, How many of us tell our friends thank you for being a friend. And are we thankgin God for our friends. Today is a day to do it.

National Mustard Day

     It is National Mustard Day. Now I know not everyone likes mustard but I do. I like it on hot dogs, I like it on hamburgers, I like it in potato salad...... I have kids that like it to. What a wonderful condiment to have, to be thankful for.

National Ice Cream Sandwich Day

     I think I could go for one about now. It is National Ice Cream Sandwich Day. I have had several different types / flavors of ice cream sandwiches and they are a delicious treat. Let's use today to be thankful for them.

Sports Day

     It is a new month and a new day and a day for sports. It is Sports Day. I can think of many types of sports. I can think of softball, baseball football, hockey, soccer, etc. I can also say that I enjoy a variety of ports even if I'm not that athletic. Today, let's be thankful for sports, at least your favorite....
