A New Leaf

He came to my desk with quivering lip—
The lesson was done.
"Dear Teacher, I want a new leaf," he said,
"I have spoiled this one."
I took the old leaf, stained and blotted,
And gave him a new one all unspotted,
And into his sad eyes smiled,
"Do better, now, my child."

I went to the throne with a quivering soul—
The old year was done.
"Dear Father, hast Thou a new leaf for me?
I have spoiled this one."
He took the old leaf, stained and blotted,
And gave me a new one all unspotted,
And into my sad heart smiled,
"Do better, now, my child."

Dear Lord, Thank you.
  • For Your forgiveness when we mess up
  • For the New year and the fresh start that comes with it.

Welcome to Everyday Thankfulness

I was recently reading a book on the evidences for a young earth when I came a cross a familiar verse from the book of Romans which seemed to jump out at me. In Romans chapter 1 Paul is listing many things that were (and still are) wrong with the world. What caught my attention was verse 21 where Paul says that "Even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks." The people were not thankful.

Over the last couple years the need for thankfulness has been ever prevalent on my mind. One of my goals for 2011 is to put together this blog with the hope of encouraging everyone to be thankful everyday for everything.  Please feel free to share your thoughts on thankfulness along with all that you are thankful for and let's see where this will go.

P.S. - As Eeyore would say "Thanks for noticing."
