Easter

We call it Easter but Resurrection Sunday would be a better name.

When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. And they were saying to one another, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?" And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back— it was very large. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. And he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. - Mark 16:1-6 (ESV)

HE HAS RISEN – Are you thankful for that?

Doctor Day

I can't say that going to the doctor is an experience we always look forward too. Yes there are times when we need to go for our health's sake and when those times come, weather we like them or not, doctors are people we can be thankful for.

Pickle Day

While there are many things that can be pickled, when I think of pickles, I usually think of cucumbers, whole or sliced. While I do not usually eat whole pickles, I enjoy having slices on hamburgers and subs. I know there are many varieties of pickles to choose from and more places to have them than hamburgers and subs, so what do you like and where do you like them and are you thankful for them? Today's the day.

Something On A Stick Day

Today reminds me of the state fair, the place you go to find whet seems like every kind of food on a stick. I think the only food I've eaten on a stick is a corn dog and a Popsicle. Of course, there are other things that can be found on a stick other then food. I suppose, putting things on a stick makes them easier to carry or eat or both so today we can be thankful for things on a stick.

If you are reading this than there is a pretty good chance that you have received an education at some time in your life and it might be that you are still receiving one now. While I now kids often do not like receiving one (I have some like that) it is something we all need to be thankful for for education, done right is a valuable thing. Let's be thankful for what we have learned and let's not be afraid to share that knowledge with others.

Tolkien Reading Day

Even though I was never a big fan of reading, once in a while I found I book I enjoyed and read it through. Tolkien's books are some of those I have enjoyed.

While I am not planning on reading any of his books today, I am thankful for the books he has written that I have read.

Palm Sunday

Six days before the Passover, Jesus therefore came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. So they gave a dinner for him there. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with him at table. Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was about to betray him), said, “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and n given to the poor?” He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and n having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it. Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my burial. For the poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me.” When the large crowd of the Jews learned that Jesus4 was there, they came, not only on account of him but also to see Lazarus, o whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to put Lazarus to death as well, because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus. The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of s palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written, “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt!” His disciples did not understand these things at first, but y when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him. The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness. The reason why the crowd went to meet him b was that they heard he had done this sign. So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the world has gone after him.” - John 12:1-21(ESV)

Thank you He who comes in the name of the Lord – our King

Toast Day

I'm not sure which video it is, but in one of my Veggie Tale videos everyone keeps saying the Junior is toast. Today is toast Day but not like junior but like a piece of bread browned on both sides. My favorite way of having toast that I remember is covered with brown sugar and cinnamon. Of course home made raspberry or strawberry jam is good too. So pop a piece of bread in your toaster and thank God for toast.

Good Samaritan Day

And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.” But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.” (ESV)

Today is Good Samaritan Day. This is the story from which we get the idea of being a Good Samaritan. Are you a Good Samaritan? Are you thankful for those who are?

While I'm not old enough to have experienced phones that required you to turn a crank on the side, talk into a piece on the phone on the wall while holding another piece to your ear I have had the opportunity to play with one that wasn't in use. Now days we carry our phones in our pockets and treat them like computers.

National Anthem Day

Written by Francis Scott Key we sing

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Let's not butcher this song as many do and lets be thankful for this anthem and the land God has given us.

Today, Let's be thankful for Dr. Seuss and the books he has written.
