Make Up Your Mind Day

     It is the last day of the year and I think it is about time to make up your mind...... Oh Wait, Today is Make Up Your Mind Day. On this last day of the year lets be thankful for our minds that we can make up.

Bacon Day

     It is Bacon day. For all of you Bacon Lovers, this is your day. I do not eat a lot of bacon but I eat it from time to time lie in a BLT. The other day I had something wrapped I bacon that was good as well. Lets use today to be thankful for Bacon.

Tick Tick Day

     Here is a strange name for day - Tick Tick Day. When I think of something that goes tick, tick, I think of a watch and hence time. When it comes to time, it is sometimes hard to believe that time is running out for 2013 and before we know it, 2014 will be here. I've also been studying the book of Revelation in the Bible – a book that covers the end of time. How often do we take the time to be thankful for the time we have. 60 seconds a minute, 60 minutes an hour, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ….. Let's use today to be thankful for time. It's running out – tick, tick, tick.

Card Playing Day

     Today is Card Playing Day. Over the years I have learned to play several different card games. Of the games I have learned I would say that Cribbage has been one of my favorites. I've also enjoyed a form of whist and Rook. The other day I found my self playing a matching game with some cards by 4 year old got for Christmas. Card playing can be an enjoyable time. Let's use today to be thankful for those times of playing card games.

Visit The Zoo Day

     I have been to a few zoos but not this time of year. Today is Visit The Zoo Day. If you live in a warm climate, that might be possible today, non the less, we can use today to be thankful for zoos, for the collections of animals that we can see from around the world. Of course, there are days I may think I work in a zoo or live in one :)

National Thank you Note Day

     Christmas is over, the gifts are unwrapped and now its time to write all those thank you notes. Today is National Thank you Note Day. Have you ever been thankful for thank you notes? The ones you send and the ones you receive? Let's use today to be thankful for thank you notes.

An Extra

     Earlier today we opened gift at our house, I would like to say thank you for all I have received this year. Are you thankful for what you received?

Christmas Day

     It is Christmas day a time to celebrate the birth of the Christ Child.  As we celebrate, let's not forget to be thankful for God sending His Son into the world as a babe to be one of us.  Let us be thankful for Jesus this Christmas.

National Egg Nog Day

     No I do not drink it but I have kids that love it. Today is National Egg Nog Day. It is also the day before Christmas and at Christmas time the kids start asking for egg nog. If your an egg nog fan, today is the day to be thankful for it.

Roots Day

      Today is Roots Day. No not the roots on the bottom of a plant like a tree or a stalk of corn but family roots. Or in other words, your ancestors, like Dams and Moms, Uncles and Aunts, Great grand parents, etc. When you think of your family roots, what do you think of? Are you thankful for them? Let's use today for just that.

Thermometer Day

     I don't know about you but I love my out door thermometers. I have three of them currently, of which two are digital and one of those retains data so I cab pull it up on a computer at look at it over time. Today is Thermometer Day and I am thankful for all of my thermometers. Are you thankful for them as well?

First Day Of Winter

     It happens but once a year, Once a year we have the official first day of winter and today is that day. I say official because as far as I am concerned it has been winter for a while. We have already had temperatures in the 30's below zero and the ground is covered with a foot of snow. For some, winter is not liked because of the cold and snow but it is a beautiful time of year. And we can be thankful for it, I am.

Games Day

     I enjoy playing various games. One game I've played lately is Apples to Apples. Other games I have enjoyed in the past is Monopoly, Scrabble, Cribbage, Mousetrap, Solitaire, Soccer, the list could go on. Today is game day. Let's use today to be thankful for all the games we have enjoyed.

     Today was also the annual meeting at my work place and today they handed out a ham to all employees plus a bonus check.  I would like to be thankful for both.

Oatmeal Muffin Day

     Do you enjoy eating Muffins? My favorite is blueberry but today is not blueberry muffin day it is Oatmeal Muffin Day. I suppose some blueberries could be added. Are you thankful for Muffins? Are you thankful for Oatmeal? Are you thankful when they come together? Let's use today to be thankful for oatmeal and muffins.

     Today I would also like to take time to be thankful for my wife, for today is our 21st wedding anniversary

     Today is Wear A Plunger On Your Head Day – If you are silly enough you just might do it, I'm not, I know where our plunger has been and while we may not think much of it, I'm thankful to have a plunger around the house, are you?

     At this time of the season, actually all year round, I enjoy ordering things when I can get free shipping. Today is Free Shipping Day. I have ordered many things lately with free shipping and for that I am thankful – are you.

National Chocolate Covered Anything Day

     Today is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day. How many of you like things covered in chocolate? We have had many items around our house covered with chocolate. It could be mints filling, nuts, raisins, pretzels, the list can go on and on. If you are thankful for chocolate covered things, today is your day to be thankful.

Bill Of Rights Day

     A long time ago – a decision was made to add to our constitution some protections for people like you and me. What was added was the Bill of Rights. Today we can celebrate and be thankful for them and pray we can keep them.

Monkey Day

     Today is Monkey Day. No, not the group by that name ( I used to like them) nor the actions of some people. Rather the animals that God created on day 6. Monkeys are fascinating creatures too watch as they swing through the trees, etc. Let's use today to be thankful for monkeys.

National Cocoa Day

     When I think of Cocoa I think of Hot Cocoa or Hot Chocolate. And with that, O think of marshmallows. This is a favorite drink at our house. When it is cold out. We recently stocked up on cocoa mix for just that reason. Let's use today to be thankful for Cocoa as today is National Cocoa Day.

Poinsettia Day

     During the Christmas season, one of the flowers often thought of is the Poinsettia. Today is Poinsettia Day Let's use today to be thankful for not just Poinsettias but all flowers.

Nobel Prize Day

     Dynamite came first and then came the Nobel Peace Prize. Today, let us be thankful for those who have gone out of there way to bring peace to the earth and in so doing let us not forget the Prince of Peace Himself, Jesus.

International Mountain Day

     I've been to a mountain – a small one along the north side of Lake Superior. I'm not sure I would call it a mountain but by definition it is. I would like to see the majestic mountains but that may not be in this lifetime, but that doesn't mean I can't be thankful for them for I see them often in pictures. Today is International Mountain Day. Let's be thankful for these majestic beautiful places.

Roller Skate Day

     I've never bee good with them, but today is Roller Skate Day. I do remember a few times roller skating and enjoying it and now days it is roller blades that my kids are into. In fact one will be getting some for Christmas this year. Let's use this day to be thankful for roller skates and roller blades and if you want, you can even throw in ice skates.

National Brownie Day

     I'm not a big fan of brownies until they are covered with a nice layer of vanilla icing. Than, add a tall glass of cold milk and.... today is National Brownie Day. At our house even the younger kids like to make brownies and of course eat them. So, let's use today to be thankful for brownies.

Earmuff Day

     It is cold outside. This morning it reached 25 below zero Fahrenheit. Today is a day to dress warm. Today is a day for earmuffs. Today is earmuff day. While I do not own a pair, they are useful for keeping ears warm on days like today so for them we can be thankful.

St. Nicholas Day

     It is the Christmas season and far too many focus on Santa instead of Jesus. The idea of Santa came from a man named Nicholas who was a Christan, who believed in the true God and Jesus, who gave. What a great example to follow, what a great example to be thankful for.

Bathtub Party Day

     Today is a day for cleaning up - today is Bathtub Party Day. I don't know that I've had a bath tub party – but I can remember both enjoying and not liking to take baths as a kid. Now I take showers I could say I have taken many and now I'm running out of room to put them – okay so I'm weird. I am thankful though for bath tubs – are you?

National Cookie Day

     When I got home form work yesterday I came home to fresh baked cookies. Today is National Cookie Day. They both sound good. This time of the year, my wife does lots of Christmas backing which means lots of cookies. Do you have lots of cookies around your house this time of the year? Are you thankful for those cookies?

National Roof Over Your Head Day

     Do you have a roof over your head? Today is National Roof Over Your Head Day. I have a roof over my head and at the moment it is keeping out the cold and the snow. I'm thankful for mine, are you thankful for yours?

Special Education Day

     Today is Special Education Day. Education is something to be thankful for but not everyone learns in the same way. Some need special attention in their learning. Let's use today to be thankful for all education.

Eat A Red Apple Day

     Today is Eat A Red Apple Day/ I'm not sure if I'll eat one or not but I can say a bright shiny apple can taste good and is good for you. My favorite red apple was one my grandparents brought back from Washington. It was huge and I had it polished and I hated to et it because it looked so nice but I did. Let's use today to be thankful for red apples.
