Make Up Your Mind Day

     It is the last day of the year and I think it is about time to make up your mind...... Oh Wait, Today is Make Up Your Mind Day. On this last day of the year lets be thankful for our minds that we can make up.

Bacon Day

     It is Bacon day. For all of you Bacon Lovers, this is your day. I do not eat a lot of bacon but I eat it from time to time lie in a BLT. The other day I had something wrapped I bacon that was good as well. Lets use today to be thankful for Bacon.

Tick Tick Day

     Here is a strange name for day - Tick Tick Day. When I think of something that goes tick, tick, I think of a watch and hence time. When it comes to time, it is sometimes hard to believe that time is running out for 2013 and before we know it, 2014 will be here. I've also been studying the book of Revelation in the Bible – a book that covers the end of time. How often do we take the time to be thankful for the time we have. 60 seconds a minute, 60 minutes an hour, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ….. Let's use today to be thankful for time. It's running out – tick, tick, tick.

Card Playing Day

     Today is Card Playing Day. Over the years I have learned to play several different card games. Of the games I have learned I would say that Cribbage has been one of my favorites. I've also enjoyed a form of whist and Rook. The other day I found my self playing a matching game with some cards by 4 year old got for Christmas. Card playing can be an enjoyable time. Let's use today to be thankful for those times of playing card games.

Visit The Zoo Day

     I have been to a few zoos but not this time of year. Today is Visit The Zoo Day. If you live in a warm climate, that might be possible today, non the less, we can use today to be thankful for zoos, for the collections of animals that we can see from around the world. Of course, there are days I may think I work in a zoo or live in one :)

National Thank you Note Day

     Christmas is over, the gifts are unwrapped and now its time to write all those thank you notes. Today is National Thank you Note Day. Have you ever been thankful for thank you notes? The ones you send and the ones you receive? Let's use today to be thankful for thank you notes.

An Extra

     Earlier today we opened gift at our house, I would like to say thank you for all I have received this year. Are you thankful for what you received?

Christmas Day

     It is Christmas day a time to celebrate the birth of the Christ Child.  As we celebrate, let's not forget to be thankful for God sending His Son into the world as a babe to be one of us.  Let us be thankful for Jesus this Christmas.

National Egg Nog Day

     No I do not drink it but I have kids that love it. Today is National Egg Nog Day. It is also the day before Christmas and at Christmas time the kids start asking for egg nog. If your an egg nog fan, today is the day to be thankful for it.

Roots Day

      Today is Roots Day. No not the roots on the bottom of a plant like a tree or a stalk of corn but family roots. Or in other words, your ancestors, like Dams and Moms, Uncles and Aunts, Great grand parents, etc. When you think of your family roots, what do you think of? Are you thankful for them? Let's use today for just that.

Thermometer Day

     I don't know about you but I love my out door thermometers. I have three of them currently, of which two are digital and one of those retains data so I cab pull it up on a computer at look at it over time. Today is Thermometer Day and I am thankful for all of my thermometers. Are you thankful for them as well?

First Day Of Winter

     It happens but once a year, Once a year we have the official first day of winter and today is that day. I say official because as far as I am concerned it has been winter for a while. We have already had temperatures in the 30's below zero and the ground is covered with a foot of snow. For some, winter is not liked because of the cold and snow but it is a beautiful time of year. And we can be thankful for it, I am.

Games Day

     I enjoy playing various games. One game I've played lately is Apples to Apples. Other games I have enjoyed in the past is Monopoly, Scrabble, Cribbage, Mousetrap, Solitaire, Soccer, the list could go on. Today is game day. Let's use today to be thankful for all the games we have enjoyed.

     Today was also the annual meeting at my work place and today they handed out a ham to all employees plus a bonus check.  I would like to be thankful for both.

Oatmeal Muffin Day

     Do you enjoy eating Muffins? My favorite is blueberry but today is not blueberry muffin day it is Oatmeal Muffin Day. I suppose some blueberries could be added. Are you thankful for Muffins? Are you thankful for Oatmeal? Are you thankful when they come together? Let's use today to be thankful for oatmeal and muffins.

     At this time of the season, actually all year round, I enjoy ordering things when I can get free shipping. Today is Free Shipping Day. I have ordered many things lately with free shipping and for that I am thankful – are you.

National Chocolate Covered Anything Day

     Today is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day. How many of you like things covered in chocolate? We have had many items around our house covered with chocolate. It could be mints filling, nuts, raisins, pretzels, the list can go on and on. If you are thankful for chocolate covered things, today is your day to be thankful.

Bill Of Rights Day

     A long time ago – a decision was made to add to our constitution some protections for people like you and me. What was added was the Bill of Rights. Today we can celebrate and be thankful for them and pray we can keep them.

Monkey Day

     Today is Monkey Day. No, not the group by that name ( I used to like them) nor the actions of some people. Rather the animals that God created on day 6. Monkeys are fascinating creatures too watch as they swing through the trees, etc. Let's use today to be thankful for monkeys.

National Cocoa Day

     When I think of Cocoa I think of Hot Cocoa or Hot Chocolate. And with that, O think of marshmallows. This is a favorite drink at our house. When it is cold out. We recently stocked up on cocoa mix for just that reason. Let's use today to be thankful for Cocoa as today is National Cocoa Day.

Poinsettia Day

     During the Christmas season, one of the flowers often thought of is the Poinsettia. Today is Poinsettia Day Let's use today to be thankful for not just Poinsettias but all flowers.

Nobel Prize Day

     Dynamite came first and then came the Nobel Peace Prize. Today, let us be thankful for those who have gone out of there way to bring peace to the earth and in so doing let us not forget the Prince of Peace Himself, Jesus.

International Mountain Day

     I've been to a mountain – a small one along the north side of Lake Superior. I'm not sure I would call it a mountain but by definition it is. I would like to see the majestic mountains but that may not be in this lifetime, but that doesn't mean I can't be thankful for them for I see them often in pictures. Today is International Mountain Day. Let's be thankful for these majestic beautiful places.

Roller Skate Day

     I've never bee good with them, but today is Roller Skate Day. I do remember a few times roller skating and enjoying it and now days it is roller blades that my kids are into. In fact one will be getting some for Christmas this year. Let's use this day to be thankful for roller skates and roller blades and if you want, you can even throw in ice skates.

National Brownie Day

     I'm not a big fan of brownies until they are covered with a nice layer of vanilla icing. Than, add a tall glass of cold milk and.... today is National Brownie Day. At our house even the younger kids like to make brownies and of course eat them. So, let's use today to be thankful for brownies.

Earmuff Day

     It is cold outside. This morning it reached 25 below zero Fahrenheit. Today is a day to dress warm. Today is a day for earmuffs. Today is earmuff day. While I do not own a pair, they are useful for keeping ears warm on days like today so for them we can be thankful.

St. Nicholas Day

     It is the Christmas season and far too many focus on Santa instead of Jesus. The idea of Santa came from a man named Nicholas who was a Christan, who believed in the true God and Jesus, who gave. What a great example to follow, what a great example to be thankful for.

Bathtub Party Day

     Today is a day for cleaning up - today is Bathtub Party Day. I don't know that I've had a bath tub party – but I can remember both enjoying and not liking to take baths as a kid. Now I take showers I could say I have taken many and now I'm running out of room to put them – okay so I'm weird. I am thankful though for bath tubs – are you?

National Cookie Day

     When I got home form work yesterday I came home to fresh baked cookies. Today is National Cookie Day. They both sound good. This time of the year, my wife does lots of Christmas backing which means lots of cookies. Do you have lots of cookies around your house this time of the year? Are you thankful for those cookies?

National Roof Over Your Head Day

     Do you have a roof over your head? Today is National Roof Over Your Head Day. I have a roof over my head and at the moment it is keeping out the cold and the snow. I'm thankful for mine, are you thankful for yours?

     Today is Special Education Day. Education is something to be thankful for but not everyone learns in the same way. Some need special attention in their learning. Let's use today to be thankful for all education.

Eat A Red Apple Day

     Today is Eat A Red Apple Day/ I'm not sure if I'll eat one or not but I can say a bright shiny apple can taste good and is good for you. My favorite red apple was one my grandparents brought back from Washington. It was huge and I had it polished and I hated to et it because it looked so nice but I did. Let's use today to be thankful for red apples.

Computer Security Day

     I remember my first computer – a Commodore Vic 20 – the next one was a Commodore 64 and then a 128 and then a PC. With my first computers I never had to worry about security – they were never on the Internet. They couldn't be. Today they are on all the time. Today is Computer Security Day. IS your computer secure? Are you thankful for those who work to help make it secure?

National Day of Listening Day

     Today is either Black Friday or National Day of Listening Day or both. What a contrast these two can be – Black Friday is often associated with pushing and shoving which represents to me very little patience. Taking time to listen, on the other hand, takes patience. Are you one who takes time to listen, are you thankful for those who take time to listen to you?

     I've heard the expression “On pins and Needles.” Today is Pins and Needles Day. Have you ever taken time to be thankful for pin and needles? If you've ever done sewing you know just how valuable these are. Let's use today to be thankful for pins and needles.

National Cake Day

     Today is National Cake Day. Have you had cake today? Have you had it recently? At our house we had a large cake just days ago as we celebrated a birthday. My favorite cake is a spice cake covered with cream cheese frosting. There are many types of cakes for which we can be thankful for so today lets be thankful for cake.

National Parfait Day

     Today is National Parfait Day however, I don't think I'll be having one today. The two parfaits that first come to mind is the yogurt parfait I can find at McDonalds – well liked at our house – and the peanut buster parfait found at Dairy Queen – a favorite of my wife. Let's use today to be thankful for these treas.

David's Day

     Well, I read that it was Mother Goose Day but today is David's 4th birthday along with his cousins 3rd.  Today I would like to take time to say thank you for David, and for each of my kids.

Dr. Who Day

     It is Dr. Who Day. I remember watching this show a lot growing up. It was and still is one of my favorite Science fiction shows. I only wish they would give God the glory instead of evolution :( Never the less, I am thankful for being able to watch this show.

World Television Day

     Today is World Television Day. I can always remember a television around. I can remember when you had less than 13 channels to choose from and you had to walk over to the Television to do so. I can also remember when all we had was black and white, the TV's ran on vacuum tubes and took up lots of space. I now have one that is 42” and hangs on the wall. While there is much on Television that is not good, there is much good that can be gotten from them so for that let us be thankful today.

Name Your P.C Day

     Does your computer have a name? Today is Name Your P.C Day. I'm not sure if I'll come up with a name for my computer and you may note come up with one either but even without a name, a computer is something to be thankful for.

World Toilet Day

     How often do you think of your toilet? - They can get dirty, they can get smelly, they can cause problems but what would you do with out it. I recently had to tear out one of ours to replace the floor under it and then fix the toilet itself. So far, so good. Today is World Toilet Day. Let's use today to be thankful for toilets.

Mickey Mouse's Day

     I believe He was introduced to us in a short animated clip called “Steam Boat Willie.” Hew was and is a mouse named Mickey. Today is Mickey Mouse's Day Have you ever enjoyed watching a Mickey Mouse cartoon or Mickey Mouse Club show? Today is a day to be thankful for Mickey Mouse.

Homemade Bread Day

     Today is Homemade Bread Day. Growing up, I don't remember much for home made bread around the house but I do remember getting it at Grandma's house, along with fresh homemade jams. Now days, I get to have homemade bread on a regular basis. Depending on the kind that is being made and when it is made, a loaf at our house can disappear fast. Today, let's be thankful for homemade bread.

National Button Day

     Have you ever pushed a button? I could say I have pushed a lot of buttons, the ones on this keyboard that are called keys. Today is National Button Day and while we could think of all the buttons that get pushed, we can also think of all the buttons that we button. Like the ones on the shirt or pants or dress or wherever they may be. Today, let's be thankful for all these buttons.

America Recycles Day

     Today is America Recycles Day. A day to think about recycling here in America. At our house we try to recycle plastic, metal and glass. There are many things that we can recycle – so they can be used again. Have you ever thought of being thankful that you can recycle? Today is the day to be thankful for recycling.

National Pickle Day

     We used to get a laugh out of a book about pickle pizza. We have eaten what we call a pickle pizza – a cheeseburger pizza with pickles on it – Today is National Pickle Day. Well, I can say I do not like all pickles, I do like some pickles. Today, let's take time to be thankful for pickles.

World Kindness Day

     Today is World Kindness Day Not only can we use today to remember to show kindness to those around us but we can use today to be thankful for those who have shown kindness to us. If you are like me it shouldn't take long to think of someone who has shown you kindness.

Chicken Soup For The Soul Day

     There is a Far Side cartoon I like. There is a chicken feeding chicken soup to a sick chicken in bed. The caption sys that it is good for you and it si nobody we know. I've always heard chicken soup is good for you. Today is Chicken Soup For The Soul Day. There are a series of boos out, and I believe we have at least one or have had one. There are short stories, and devotions to help encourage and lift up the soul. Today, let's be thankful for the stories that encourage us.

Veterans Day

     Today is Veterans Day. I'm not sure that I need to say much more. Both my wife and my self have veterans in our family line so today we say thank you to and for our veterans.

International Tongue Twister Day

     Today is International Tongue Twister Day. Some times you just have to be thankful for the fun that you can have with words. One of my favorite books is Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss. I got to be pretty fast at reading it to my kids. Not only that, one year we were at a get together and they had some tongue twister races and one of my kids hollered out that he is good before we got started. We were given a little bit of time to look it over and half way through they said go. - I did win, and it was fun. So today, let's be thankful for tongue twisters.

Parade Day

     Today is Parade Day yet I'm not aware of any parades today. I enjoy going to a parade and try to make it to the 4^th of July parade every year. I can also remember enjoying watching parades on Thanksgiving and New Years. Do you enjoy a parade? Are you thankful for them?

X-ray Day

     I recently had several X-rays taken to help the dentist see the holes in my teeth. This is the only way I have had them but I know many have had them for other reasons. X-rays are a useful tool for helping determine problems where one can't normally see. Let's use this day to be thankful for them for today is X-ray Day.

Hug a Bear Day

     How many kinds of bears can you think of? Black bears, brown bears, polar bears, grizzly bears, teddy bears..... Today is Hug A Bear Day. While I'm not likely to hug most bears, I might hug a teddy bear. Let's use today to be thankful for bears.

Basket Ball Day

     If you put a ball and a basket together do you get basket ball? Today is Basket Ball Day. I know many who like to play this game, and at times I like to play too but I'm not very good. That may be why I don't play often. Playing basket ball can be a fun way to pass time and exercise at the same time. Today, let's be thankful for basket ball.

Election Day

     In America, the first Tuesday after the first Monday is election day so today is that day. How often do we take the time to vote on elections day? How often do we thank God that we have the ability to elect people? Today would be a good day to be thankful for the ability to vote.

National Candy Day

     A few days ago the kids loaded up with candy, today is National Candy Day. While I am less and less of a candy eater, candy is a wonderful treat and works great at times to help motivate ids to get things done ot helps to make someone feel better, etc. Today, lets be thankful for candy.

Sandwich Day

     I can not begin to count how many sandwiches I have eaten or how many different types of sandwiches I have eaten. Today is Sandwich Day but today I'm not eating a sandwich or at least I don't think I will be. The day is still early. Are you thankful for sandwiches? Let's use today to be thankful for sandwiches.

Cookie Monster Day

     Today is Cookie Monster Day. If you have ever seen Sesame Street you have seen Cookie Monster and if You have seen cookie monster you probably know how he likes to eat cookies. Do you like to eat cookies? I do. Are you thankful for cookies? I am. Let's use Cookie Monster Day to be thankful for cookies.

All Saints Day

     Today is All Saints Day. What does it men to be a saint. In the Bible we read the Christians are saints. There ares one that declare only certain people to be saints depending on what they have done in history. For others, a saint is one who comes to the rescue. Which ever way you choose to look at what a saint is, lets be thankful for them all.

National Carmel Apple Day

     Today is National Carmel Apple Day. I don't think I'll be eating one though I usually don't see apples wrapped in carmel at our house but when this treat is had it is taking slices of apple and dipping it in carmel. What a great treat. Today, take time to be thankful for carmel apples.

National Candy Corn Day

     While I do not eat them often I like eating them. They are candy corns and today is national candy corn day. It is usually in the fall that I have some laying around the house to eat or use for bribery with little kids. Sometimes I have them in the spring in pastel colors as well. Today let's be thankful for such a sweet treat.

National Cat Day

     Meow, meow, meow. Today is National Cat Day. I can't say I'm fond of cats but we do have one or it has us. Cats are just one more creature that God has created for us to enjoy so let's be thankful for cats today.

National Chocolates Day

     Today is National Chocolates Day. I know many people like / love chocolates whether they be solid dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or filled chocolate with a variety of creams or nuggets. There are some I will eat and I can remember enjoying giving them away at Christmas or Valentines day. Today, be thankful for this sweet treat.

Mother-in-Law Day

     I have one and I have had her for almost 21 years – no, not my wife but my Mother-in-Law. A lot of people like to joke about and criticize mother-in-laws but I would rather appreciate them and be thankful for them. Today is Mother-in-Law Day and without mine, I wouldn't have my wonderful wife :) So Today I'll be thankful for my Mother-in-Law. If you have one, go ahead and be thankful for her as well.

Make a Difference Day

     Today is Make a Difference Day – a day to go and make a difference. How often do you make a difference? How often does some one else make a difference for you? If we stop and think about it, We are sure to come up with a list so why not use today to be thankful for those who make a difference.

National Denim Day

     Have you ever been thankful for the material used in the jeans you wear? Today is National Denim Day. Now I know there are more things made with denim than just jeans but jeans are the most common. So let's use today to be thankful for denim.

Food Day

     Today is simply - Food Day – I think we all eat food but are we always thankful for the food we eat. Let today be a good reminder to be thankful for the food we eat no matter what it is or how much of it we have.

Canned Food Day

     How many cans of food do you have sitting on your shelves? When you think of canned food – today is Canned Food Day – it could be in a metal can or it could be in a glass canning jar. AT our house we have both. Canning is a way to preserve food for later use or for ease as it is in some cases. Today, lets be thankful for canned food.

National Nut Day

     Today is National Nut Day, a day to be thankful for the people you work with, your family and friends, those little things you eat. I think peanuts which are not a true nut are our favorites but we eat a variety of them and they are good for you so we can be thankful for nuts.

Celebration Of The Mind Day

     Today is Celebration Of The Mind Day. How often do we celebrate our mind, the ability to use it, to think and to remember? The mind id a wonderful thing except maybe when I'm trying to sleep and it won't shut down :). Let's be thankful today for our minds.

National Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Day

     I have had many Sunday School Teachers over the years and I have been one in various ways as well. Today is National Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Day, a day to be thankful for those who dedicate themselves to teaching God's truths in a Sunday School Setting.

Bridge Day

     Today is Bridge Day. I suppose some people may think of a card game when they think of bridge but most of us will think of something suspended in the air connecting to points. Some bridges are rather small, like the ones the kids make with Legos in the living room. Others are miles long. I have traveled over many bridges and yes, I'm thankful they are there. Today let's be thankful for bridges.

Alaska Day

     Today is Alaska Day. No, I have never been there but I know those who have visited there and those who have lived there. The closest I have come is through pictures. I sometime think we get Alaska's winter cold when it gets done with it but we don't have the mountains. Today lets be thankful for this beautiful state.

Pasta Day

     Today is Pasta Day. Do you eat pasta? How do you like your pasta? At our house we eat it from time to time and I must say I think I like it best in Lasagna but I also enjoy it in spaghetti. I know some who like it in macaroni and cheese and I have had plenty of wonderful pasta salads. Today, lets be thankful for pasta.

Boss's Day

     Do you have one? Maybe you are one? Today is Boss's Day. No we may not always like the boss or being the boss as there is much responsibility that comes with the position but that doesn't mean we can't be thankful for them.

National Cake Decorating Day

     Today is National Cake Decorating Day. This reminds me of my childhood when for our birthdays we we get a specially made cake by our grandmother that was decorated up fancy. Rockets, race cars, bunnies, boats.... It seemed that whatever we wanted she could do. It can be fun to decorate a cake and it fun to eat one that has been. Today let's be thankful for cake, and those who decorate them.

Columbus Day

     Here in America we celebrate Columbus Day. We celebrate the day to honor Columbus' achievements in coming to America and in way, paving the way for others to come. One might be able to look at him for his perseverance to overcoming obstacles to make the voyage.. Let's be thankful this morning for those who persevere and discover great things.

National Chess Day

     It is a game I learned as a kid – at least the basics of it. It is a game that can make you think. It is chess and today is National Chess Day. I know for some chess has no interest but it is a game that can help sharpen the mind. So, today, lets be thankful for chess and other games that can sharpen the mind.

Farmers Day

     Would we even be here without them? It is Farmers Day. I know several farmers including family. They raise crops, they raise dairy, they raise.... the food that we eat. They harvest it etc..... I Listen to farmers at work and I've learned from them along the way and one thing I've learned is being a farmer is a lot of work so today, let's be thankful for farmers.

     I used to be able to crack open two at a time in one hand without dropping any shell pieces. Eggs, I've cooked up many eggs in the past when I worked at a McDonalds. Eggs are wonderful for eating in a variety of ways and are great added to many recipes. Today, let's be thankful for eggs and they don't have to be green with ham.

World Sight Day

     You have two of them, or at least most people do and they are somewhere just above your nose. They are called eyes and they give you sight. Today is World Sight Day a day we can use to be thankful for our eyes, thankful for our sight. This time of year with the leaves turning volor there are many beautiful sights to behold as well.

National Cheese Day

     Where do you like your cheese? Do you like it on pizza? Do you like it on spaghetti? Do you like it on a hamburger? Do you like it in a hot dish? I could go on and on. Today is National Cheese Day and I think most people like some kind of cheese on or in something or maybe just by itself. Today, let's be thankful for cheese.

National Pierogi Day

     Today is National Pierogi Day. What I've learned is Pierogi are dumplings of unleavened dough – first boiled, then they are baked or fried usually in butter with onions – traditionally stuffed with potato filling, sauerkraut, ground meat, cheese, or fruit. I can't say that I have ever had one but for those of you who have, today is a day to be thankful for them.

You Matter To Me Day

     Today is a unique day. It is You Matter To Me Day. Are there people around you that you could say this to? Are the those that you matter to yourself? What about taking time to be thankful for those that matter to you. Thank God for those people and thank them as well.

World Communion Day

     What do you think of when you think of communion? Do you think of the emblems of bread and grape juice? Do you think of the blood that Jesus shed, do you think of Jesus body that was beaten in our stead? Do you think of the forgiveness God has granted us and the life we can have with Him? Are you thankful for any or all of what communion represents?

World Teacher Day

     Have you ever seen a sign that says “If you can read this – thank a teacher.” I have had teachers that have taught me and I have been a teacher in that I have taught others. And I'm married to a teacher as we home school are children. Today is World Teacher Day another day to be thankful for teachers.

National Taco Day

     Not so long ago I red of someone who wanted Tacos for their birthday and thought that is something I would want. Why wait till a birthday. Today is National Taco Day and a day to be thankful for tacos.

Look at the Leaves Day

     Today is Look at the Leaves Day. It is the time of the year when the leaves turn color before falling to the ground to be raked into piles to be jumped in. I have been able to get several beautiful pictures this time of the year from the leaves turning colors. On a recent trip I had wished I had brought a camera for some more but even though I didn't I was able to enjoy the color of the leaves. Let's be thankful for leaves today.

Guardian Angels Day

     We don't see them but they are there. Have you ever been thankful for angles, for the unseen beings that watch over us, that guard us? Today is Guardian Angels Day. I'm sure we can all come up with times when the only explanation for why things didn't turn out worse was an angle watching out for us.

Homemade Cookie Day

     Do you enjoy eating homemade cookies? Today is your day. At our house a rather large pile of homemade chocolate chip cookies were made yesterday and I'm not sure any are left. I have several kinds of homemade cookies I like to eat. Let's be thankful for homemade cookies today.

Safety Pin Day

     I do not use them very often but I can still be thankful for them and so can you. Today is safety Pin Day. For me at least, the number one use I can remember for safety pins was to hold on diapers – I out grew them a couple years ago :)

National Coffee Day

     I do not drink coffee. I do not like the smell of coffee. Today is National Coffee Day. I know many people, both friends and family who drink coffee, who like coffee and for them today is a wonderful day so I say to them drink up and be thankful for coffee.

Good Neighbor Day

     Today is Good Neighbor Day a day to be a good neighbor, a day to be thankful for good neighbors. And remember, a neighbor isn't just someone who lives next door

World Tourism Day

     Have you ever been a tourist? My touring is normally limited in range to the state of Minnesota and never the world but I know those who have been around the world as in away from here and also those that have come from around the world to here. It is enjoyable to see other areas of the world and visit with those who are from other areas. Today is World Tourism Day so lets be thankful for tourism.

Johnny Appleseed Day

     I know I enjoy apple pie and of course, apple pie is made from apples from which many other things are made and of course apples come from apple trees, trees that at some point in time had to have been planted. Today is Johnny Appleseed Day and I think most of us know that he was famous for planting apple trees. Today we will be thankful for him and all others that plant apple trees.

National Comic Book Day

     Today is National Comic Book Day. I can remember reading some comic books as a kid but I can't say I ever got into them to deeply. I did have my favorites and I do enjoy the lift – me – up that can come from reading comics. Today we can be thankful for comic books.

     Have you ever seen one of those sentences where punctuation is missing and it makes the sentence seem weird? Today is Punctuation Day, a day t be thankful for all those little periods and commas and semicolons and....

Checkers Day

     It's a simple little game played on a checkered board. It doesn't take much to learn but may take years to master. Today is Checkers Day. Do you enjoy playing checkers? Are you thankful for checkers? Are you thankful for any other board games?

First Day Of Autumn

     Today marks the first day of Autumn or the beginning of fall. Do you enjoy Autumn, when the temps drop below freezing, the leaves on the trees turn colors and fall to the ground, crops are harvested, hunting seasons commence, houses and yards are prepared for winter, holidays start knocking at the door, and snow starts to fall. What a time of the year to be thankful for.

International Eat An Apple Day

     It's International Eat An Apple Day. I'm not eating any apples today though. How many of us enjoy eating apples or something made with apples like apple pie or apple sauce or apple turnovers or ..... maybe just an apple. I remember having an apple as a child that was huge and I didn't want to eat it, just admire it. I finally ate it. Today, lets be thankful for apples.

Railroad Day

     I have friends that have or do work for the railroad, I've had friends that have built model railroads and I can remember thinking how fun it would be to build one. The railroad does a great service – other then entertaining kids at the crossings so today we can be thankful for railroads as it is Railroad Day.

Talk Like A Pirate Day

     When I'm playing with the kids, I sometimes like to talk like a pirate. Today is Talk Like A Pirate Day. I also like talk like a parrot or cute lovable furry Grover or a few other voices. It is amazing what the voice can do and sound like. Are you thankful for the ability to talk in different ways?

National Play-Doh Day

     Who remembers playing with Play-Doh? I can still remember and I remember having fun. My kids play with it now and they to have fun. The biggest problem is once you mix it it doesn't separate very well and it does tend to dry out when you forget to take care of it. Problems aside, are you thankful for Play-Doh? Today is a good day to be for it is National Play-Doh Day.

Citizenship Day

     Being a citizen can have it's advantages. When I think of citizenship, I think of Paul in the Bible and how he was a Roman citizen and that brought with it special advantages. It is Citizenship Day a day we can use to be thankful for our citizenship. Both here on earth and in heaven.

Collect Rocks Day

     I have kids who like to collect rocks and today is Collect Rocks Day. With in the last couple of weeks they were at our local corn maze and they were selling little colored rocks all polished up and they bought some. Often times they are picking them up from the gravel in the driveway. But where ever they get them, they like rocks so today we can be thankful for rocks.

Google.Com Day

     Here is a day for you. It is Google.Com Day. Have you ever googled something? Or should I say searched for something on the Internet? While they are many different search engines, it seems that you never say Yahoo something or Bing something or whatever. So today, let's be thankful for being able to search through things on the Internet easily.

National Cream-filled Donut Day

     I'm sure this has lots of calories but …. They sure are good. Today is National Cream-filled Donut Day. One of my favorite creamed filled donuts came from Mr. Donuts years ago. I've had plenty and I have enjoyed them and I am thankful for them.

Positive Thinking Day

     How do you think positive? When playing soccer One of the things I try to do is get the kids thinking in a positive way before the games starts and through the game for if you think negatively, we're going to lose, we hurt our selves. Thinking positive may not always lead you to the outcome you desire but it helps to set you on the right path and makes life much more enjoyable. Today is Positive Thinking Day so let's be positive and be thankful that we can.

National Chocolate Milk Shake Day

     This a day many will like. It is National Chocolate Milk Shake Day. Are you thankful for chocolate milk shakes? I guess I would have to say I prefer fruit flavor shakes, like strawberry or maybe blueberry. Lets be thankful for such a treat this day.

Swap Ideas Day

     Today is Swap Ideas Day a day to swap ideas or at least be thankful for ideas and that we can share them with others. When I'm working at my job, coming up with ideas and sharing them or swapping them is par for the course. I'm thankful I can share with others and others share with me when it comes to ideas.

Teddy Bear Day

     It is Teddy Bear Day. Do you have a teddy bear? I don't but I may have had one when I was little. I remember two big ones that were at my grand parents house. I had other stuffed animals that I do remember, mainly a stuffed tiger that was about 6 feet long from tip to tip. Are you thankful for teddy bears? Are you thankful for any other stuffed animal?

National Grandparents Day

     I believe we all have them yet they may not be alive. Today is National Grandparents Day and a day we can use to remember our grandparents – the ones that spoil us and then send us home to our parents.... Let's be thankful for our grandparents today.

National Cheese Pizza Day

     Ooohy and Gooey. It's National Cheese Pizza Day. While I usually like some meat on my pizza, cheese pizza is liked at our house and has been requested many different times. Do you like cheese pizza? Do you like pizza? Are you thankful for Pizza?

Newspaper Carrier Day

     I never was one but had siblings that filled in. Today is Newspaper Carrier Day I have had newspapers delivered to my house when I lived in town and my parents still do. While it get most of my news over the Internet, These people provide a wonderful service so today we can be thankful for them.

Sky Scrapper Day

     Up, Up, Up in the sky, It's a sky scrapper. It's not really scrapping the sky. But tall building can be a marvel. The tallest one I've been in was the IDS building in Minneapolis and I was on the 52^nd floor. Today is Sky Scrapper Day Are you thankful for tall buildings that use vertical space?

Labor Day

     Today is Labor Day a day to honor those who labor – not necessarily for women who go into labor to deliver a baby though I had someone at work who was hoping his wife would go into labor – but it is a day for those who work and that is something to be thankful for.

     Are you familiar with the nursery rhyme - Mary Had A Little Lamb? Today is Mary Had A Little Lamb Day. So what can we find to be thankful for in a nursery rhyme? How about being thankful for the nursery rhymes themselves or for lambs or for Mary or maybe one could go so far as to be thankful for the Lamb of God born to a girl named Mary. What will you be thankful for?

National Trail Mix Day

     Today is National Trail Mix Day. And if you like to eat Trail Mix then today is your day so grab a handful, chow away and remember to be thankful for the mix.

National Toasted Marshmallow Day

     Anybody for marshmallows? Toasted light brown on a campfire? Today is National Toasted Marshmallow Day. Growing up as a kid, I remember toasting marshmallows not over a campfire but over the charcoal grill on Sunday afternoons and one could never seem to make them fast enough or get enough. Mary Poppins Day

     Have you ever watched Mary Poppins? Today is her day. I can remember watching that show many times but don't ask me how to spell super....... The show is full of fun songs and a wonderful uplift and since today is Mary Poppins Day, last be thankful for that.

Dream Day

     We all have dreams, some for the good and some not. Often times we have dreams that we would like to see come true. To day is a day to be thankful for dreams.

Banana Lover's Day

     They are yellow or at least they are on the outside when they are eaten. They are bananas and to day is Banana Lover's Day. At our house, bananas are eaten as bananas or in various types of banana bread and once in a while as a banana split or in a pizza (fruit pizza) so today let's be thankful for bananas.

National Dog Day

     We have one at our house. The one we have is an Australian Shepherd. The kids enjoy him but he wouldn't make for a hunting dog. One of the two dogs I remember from childhood was a hunting dog, the other I'm told I used to play tug a war with pulling on a toy mouse with the mouth. Today is National Dog Day so we will use today to be thankful for dogs.

Kiss and Make Up Day

     Sometimes in life things go awry and we need to “kiss and make up” or in other words fix a broken relation ship, etc. It usually means admitting being wrong and asking for forgiveness. It also means being willing to forgive. If no-one ever did this, well, let's not think about it and just be thankful that we can for today is Kiss and Make Up Day.

National Waffle Day

     I remember a day when I was a child when we gathered at my great grand parents' farm for some kinf of reunion or something and there was a waffle feed. All you could eat waffles and chances are the syrup was home made maple syrup as my great grandfather had a big vat in the woods for boiling down the sap from the maple trees. Today is National Waffle Day. I like mine with maple syrup but I know there are others who like different toppings on them. What ever you likeon them, we can be thankful for waffles.

National Sponge Cake Day

     Need a bite to eat? How about some sponge cake for today is National Sponge Cake Day. Whether it be sponge cake or any other kind of cake, let's be thankful for the cakes we eat.

Be An Angel Day

     Have you ever been told you're an angel? Today is Be An Angel Day. What does it mean to be an angel? For some it means simply being good and not getting into trouble but more often it means being some kind of helper. Are you thankful for those who have been angels to you?

Poet's Day

     Today is Poet's Day. Poetry comes to us in various ways and I've even tried to write it at times. No, I'm not going to share it here but today we can be thankful for poetry and for those who write it.

Soccer

     Where we are, we started our home school soccer league last night. I have two coaches to help me this year and about 30 kids. How we will do this season I do not know but I am thankful for those hwo have come out to play and for those who ave come to help.

Cup Cake Day

     It is Cup Cake Day. Does anyone enjoy eating these? Does anyone enjoy making them? I can remember having lots of fun at Grandma's house as a kid decorating cupcakes in all kinds of weird colors. They looked disgusting sometimes but they tasted good. Today we can be thankful for cup cakes.

Mail Order Catalog Day

      I think we call it junk mail now days..... Today is Mail Order Catalog Day. Now days when I need to order something I go on the Internet but it used to be through mail order catalogs. I still get a few catalogs and once in a great while I may still order from one but even though I don't, they are still fun to look through. So for their use and enjoyment, I'll be thankful for.

Archeology Day

     Today is Archeology Day. Have you ever thought about being thankful for archeology? Archeology, archaeologists, dig up the past and try to piece things together to make a story about the past. Many an honest archaeologist has dug up confirming evidence of the truth of God's word to help bolster our faith and that is definitely something to be thankful for.

Roller coaster Day

     Up, Up, Up, Up and ddddoooooowwwwwnnnnnnn. Up, Up, Up, Up and ddddoooooowwwwwnnnnnnn. It is Roller coaster Day. I've been on a few and while they have lost their appeal to me I think I can remember them as being fun. If you have ever enjoyed a roller coaster ride, today is the day for being thankful for them.

National Relaxation Day

     I can't do it yet but to day is National Relaxation Day. I'll have to wait till I'm off from work to see if I can relax. How many of us enjoy times of relaxation? How many of us are thankful for those times.

National Creamsicle Day

     Cold treats on a hot day? How about a Creamsicle? Are you thankful for sweet treats such as these? It's National Creamsicle Day.

International Left Handers Day

     Today is International Left Handers Day. I'm right handed but I know those who are left handed further more, I do have a left hand. I have heard it joked that the right side of the brain controls the left hand so that left handed people are the only people in their right brain but weather or not that is true, I'll be thankful for left handers and left hands and right hands as well.

Vinyl Record Day

     I suppose there are many now that do not even know what a Vinyl Record is or was. I used to have many of them but I got rid of them. Some days I wish I still had them but then I would need a record player and a place to put them. I did enjoy them while I had them and yes I am thankful for them. Today is their day for it is Vinyl Record Day.

Play in the Sand Day

     One of my childhood memories revolves around a rather large sandbox that wasn't really a sandbox. Well, I guess there was a box but why stick to the box for digging holes and making roads and bridges and volcanoes and burring brothers.... Do you love playing in the sand? Are you thankful for sand to play in? Today is Play in the Sand Day.

S'mores Day

     I have a song on a veggie tales CD that talks about Graham crackers, chocolate bars and marshmallows. And putting them together makes a sticky treat. It's S'mores Day. Do you want toeat one? Are you thankful for them?

Book Lover's Day

     Today is Book Lover's Day. If you enjoy books, today is your day. I don'[t know if I would call my save a book lover but I do enjoy reading from time to time and so do many of my kids. We are well known at the library and we have a pretty good collection of books – mostly for kids. So today let's be thankful for books.

Dollar Day

     There isn't much you ca by for a dollar any more but … Today is dollar day and while a dollar may not be much on its own, they add up. I know we are not to make money a god but it is something we need and use and since I have some I'll be thankful for them, will you?

Lighthouse Day

     I've seen movies revolving around them, I've heard them being sung about, I've seen many pictures of them and I've even seen one in person I just didn't get close enough to go in. Today is Lighthouse Day and while I may be able to enjoy them from afar, there are many who have had their lives saved as a result of a working lighthouse. Today we can be thankful for lighthouses.

Wiggle Your Toes Day

     Go ahead and do it. Wiggle your toes. It is Wiggle Your Toes Day. Have you ever taken the time to not just wiggle your toes but to be thankful for them.

Underwear Day

     It is Underwear Day today, a day to be thankful for underwear. But I would like to focus on a couple other things this day. Over the weekend we were at a music festival and I would like to be thankful this day for the wonderful music, those that worked hard to put the festival on and for making it home even after our van died and wouldn't start. A hose had come loose and with the help of a dime it was put back on and tightened. Though I'm not a mechanic, I would say God helped me see the issue and come up with a solution.

Friendship Day

     Today is Friendship Day and this weekend we have been camping at a music festival – mostly bluegrass – and while there we have been having the opportunity to visit with friends. How many of us have friends, How many of us tell our friends thank you for being a friend. And are we thankgin God for our friends. Today is a day to do it.

National Mustard Day

     It is National Mustard Day. Now I know not everyone likes mustard but I do. I like it on hot dogs, I like it on hamburgers, I like it in potato salad...... I have kids that like it to. What a wonderful condiment to have, to be thankful for.

National Ice Cream Sandwich Day

     I think I could go for one about now. It is National Ice Cream Sandwich Day. I have had several different types / flavors of ice cream sandwiches and they are a delicious treat. Let's use today to be thankful for them.

Sports Day

     It is a new month and a new day and a day for sports. It is Sports Day. I can think of many types of sports. I can think of softball, baseball football, hockey, soccer, etc. I can also say that I enjoy a variety of ports even if I'm not that athletic. Today, let's be thankful for sports, at least your favorite....

U.S. Patent Day

     No, I do not have one. I've often heard of those who jokingly say they should have one because they think they thought of an idea first. Today is U.S. Patent Day and patent often go hand in hand with inventions or discoveries, to protect them. If you have ever had a patent, today is your day to be thankful for them.

Cheesecake Day

     It's cheesecake day a day to be thankful for cheesecake. I enjoy cheesecake, usually with some kind of fruit topping. So does everyone else in my family. Sometimes it even becomes birthday cake at our house. Are you thankful for this wonderful treat?

Lasagna Day

     One may think of Garfield the cat today for today is Lasagna Day. I like eating lasagna and my wife makes good lasagna. I don't think I'll be having it today though but that doesn't mean I can't be thankful for it. Are you?

Parents' Day

     I am one and my and my Dad and Mom are too What are we? Parents and today is Parents' Day. While I can't say that all parents through history have been good, some have been really bad, I can say that without them we wouldn't be here. Let's use today to be thankful for our parents.

Bugs Bunny Day

     What's Up Doc? It's Bugs Bunny Day. I grew up watching cartoons staring Bug Bunny. I was never able to figure out if he was the good guy or the bad guy. It's been awhile since I've seen one. And if I did I'm sure I would still enjoy it.

     Today is a day to be thankful for Bug's Bunny and other cartoons that brought us good laughs.

Aunt and Uncle Day

     A couple days ago was Cousins Day, today is a day for their folks, today is Aunt and Uncle Day. I remember my Aunts and Uncles and I remember them visiting or visiting them and it always nice to hear from them. Today we will take the time to be thankful for Aunts and Uncles. Come to think of it, I am an Uncle.....

Merry-Go-Round Day

     It is Merry-Go-Round Day. I remember one of these from childhood days at the elementary school I attended. It was the most popular thing on the play ground. Now you don't find very many of them. There is one where we will be heading camping soon and guess what, it is the most popular thing on the play ground and my kids love it.

     Yes, I'm thankful for Merry-Go-Rounds and the fun I've had on them.

Cousins Day

     Not everyone has one but today is cousins day. I have 4 cousins. If I count right my kids have 21+ cousins. Cousins are family. I don't remember seeing my cousins a lot but enjoyed getting together with them. Likewise, my kids don't see their cousins a lot but enjoy getting together with them. So, today, let's be thankful for cousins.

Mosquito Day

     I don't know. It is Mosquito Day, can one be thankful for such pests. Pests that buzz around you at night keeping you awake. That bite you, filling them selves with your blood leaving you with itchy spots. Of course they do become food for many creatures and they disappear when it gets cold so today we'll try to be thankful got mosquitoes.

Summer Leisure Day

     People enjoy summer and people enjoy leisure time, time to relax and enjoy what might not normally be enjoyed. Today is Summer Leisure Day a day to be thankful for the leisure time we have and the rest, relaxation, and enjoyment that can come form such times.

National Ice Cream Day

     Who doesn't like ice cream? While vanilla may be the most common, ice cream can be bought or made in many, many flavors. It can be eaten in cakes, or with cakes, in sandwiches, pizza, cones, in a bowl by itself.... It can also be topped with fruits, nuts, syrup.....

     Today is National Ice Cream Day so go eat some ice cream but don't forget to be thankful for the ice cream you eat.

National Hot Dog Day

     One of the videos my kids like to watch on the Internet is how hot dogs are made and today is National Hot Dog Day. Yeah, they may seem kind of gross when you watch that but a hot dog on a stick over a fire is great. Of course, I do like mine covered in chili.... Let's be thankful for hot dogs today.

Stick Your tongue Out Day

     It is Stick Your tongue Out Day. No we are not going to stick our tongues out at somebody but you could stick it out at a mirror so you can see it and think of how wonderful it is and of the amazing things that can be done with it. After you've done that say thank you for your tongue.

Cow Appreciation Day

     Have you ever been thankful for cows? Have you ever enjoyed a glass of cold milk. Or, maybe a hamburger or a steak. And just maybe you have enjoyed sticking your head out a car window and mooing at a cow. Today we can be thankful for cows.

Sewing Machine Day

     Today is Sewing Machine Day. Who has one in their house? We have two. I remember m grandmother having more than two. It's been many years since I've learned how to use one and I have made several things with one. Regardless if you have one or not, chances are, you are wearing something that was sewn on one. So let's take today to be thankful for sewing machines.

Fresh Spinach Day

     I suppose I can right about this one, maybe not....... It's Fresh Spinach Day. I am not a fan of Spinach but I've heard it is suppose to be good for you and I've heard people like it so we can be thankful for it.

Gummi Worm Day

     It's Gummi Worm Day. Do you like to eat gummi worms? I have kids that do and I've seen them used for fun I some kind of salad made to look like dirt. No, they are not real worms but candy of various flavors and colors.. so, today we can be thankful for candy gummi worms and worms if you want.

Tape Measure Day

     It is Tape Measure Day. How often do you use a tape measure? In my job working with quality, I use them often to make sure things are right. I have at least three currently, 2 at work and one at home. The one at home often is used by the 3 year old as a chainsaw. Let's be thankful today for such a useful and fun device.

National French Fry Day

     It is National French Fry Day. I don't know about you, nut I like french fries. I like them dipped in ketchup or barbecue sauce. I know others like them dipped in other things. Lately I've preferred them baked over fired in oil and not covered in salt because I want them to be somewhat healthier. So today I'll be thankful for french fries.

Paper Bag Day

     Who has stopped to think about paper bags. I've used them time and time again – for groceries mostly but for lunches too. I've even used them for other things but what would one do without them? I suppose plastic but paper has been used longer.... Let's be thankful for paper bags

Cheer Up The Lonely

     Here is a day for you - Cheer Up The Lonely Day. Have you ever had a time when you have felt lonely? Have you ever had someone come a long and cheer you up. Were you thankful? Not only can today be a reminder that there are lonely people that need cheering up but that we should be thankful for those who take the time to cheer them up.

Piña Colada Day

     When ever I think of Piña Colada I'll think of our wedding for it was a Piña Colada punch that was served at the reception afterwards. It was the first time I had ever had it and it was good. Now my kids like it to, do you? I'll be thankful for Piña Colada today, not only because it taste good but for the memories I have tied to it.

National Sugar Cookie Day

     Who likes sugar cookies? I like to eat them and I would say the rest of my family does too. And the kids love to make them in various shapes and frost them. I still remember making them one time – long time ago – I was making heart shaped ones and my niece was helping. As I cut them out she put them on the pan and then squishing them. Anyways, lets be thankful for Sugar Cookies today.

Video Game Day.

     I can still remember my first video game a console that played some kind of pong. Than I eventually got an Atari 2600 and it was a lot of fun and then I got a Nitendo and then a computer. Video games as long as we control them and don't waste too much time on them can be enjoyable and stimulating depending on the game and for that I'm thankful.

Macaroni Day

     Many a kid I have know loves to eat macaroni and cheese. I prefer my macaroni in the shape of spaghetti noodles or lasagna noodles, etc. I also enjoy various macaroni salads that my wife or daughter make. Yes I am thankful for Macaroni, are you?

World Kiss Day

     When I told my wife it was World Kiss Day she asked if that meant we had to kiss the ground.... I enjoy being able to kiss my wife and my youngest children like to plant wet kisses on me and then I pretend to melt. Are you thankful for Kisses?

Graham Cracker Day

     It's Graham Cracker Day, a day to be thankful for cereal material, pie crust material, smore material or just a snack. Graham Crackers get used for many things at our house and are liked by all so today we'll be thankful for Graham Crackers.

Independence Day

     It is Independence Day in America, a day set aside to celebrate our countries independence. As we celebrate, let's not forget to be thankful to God for the independence that this country has had for with out God it would never have been.

Stay Out Of The Sun Day

     It is Stay Out Of The Sun Day. Now I know there are a lot of people who would like to be in the sun and I know there are people who would love to be in the shade – out of the sun. We need both Too little sun can be bad as well as to much sun. So who wants to be thankful today for sun and shade?

I forgot Day

     Have you ever forgotten something? Have you ever wished somethings were forgotten. Have you ever been thankful for forgetfulness, like the time someone forgot you messed up? Not all forgetfulness is bad when you look at it like that. Let's be thankful that bad things can be forgot..

U.S. Postage Stamp Day

     Today is U.S. Postage Stamp Day. I can remember when you could by 20 stamps with a dollar and have change left over. I won't test my memory to see how love I can remember them. I can also remember a time when I collected stamps and had stamp albums and would by used stamps. I also remember using lots of stamps righting to a beautiful young lady. I quit writing to her when I brought her home as my wife :) I was thankful for stamps and still am.

Log Cabin Day

     It's Log Cabin Day and no, I don't live in a log cabin but I do live in the next closet thing, I think. I house that has log siding. I know people who live in log houses / cabins. I know someone who builds them. And I would love to have one – shaped like a octagon but I can dream.... and be thankful for Log houses and cabins

Camera Day

     I think I can remember my first camera and it wasn't on a phone and you couldn't see your pictures until they were developed and the camera had flashbulbs. And I think I remember my second camera and the film for it was on a disc and I think the flash was built in by then but it still wasn't digital. We've had several other camera's since then with our newest ones being digital. Today is Camera Day and I am thankful for cameras, are you.

Paul Bunyan Day

     He is not real but he makes for some great stories and he made for an okay amusement park. He is Paul Bunyan the imaginary logger that is huge. Is it possible to be thankful for someone that does not exist? He may not exist in reality nut he does exist and over the years I've enjoyed the stories about him and the amusement park that existed by his name so, yes I'll be thankful for Paul Bunyan.

Decide to be Married Day

     It is Decide to be Married Day. I did not decide to get married in June, at least not that I remember I proposed in August and got married in December the following year …. I did decide to get married and I'm thankful I did.

Bicycle Day

     Today is Bicycle Day. Over the years I have owned several different bicycles and I have put on many miles on them including a 150 mile trip. I've been thankful over the years for my bicycles and know I have kids who are.

Color Tv Day

     Some of you may remember times before color tv. When all was black and white. I remember getting an old tv series that was and black and white and the kids wanting it to be in color. A color tv can be a big problem but it can also be a great tool. Let's be thankful for color tv today

Celebration of The Senses

     It is Celebration of The Senses Day. If you're reading this right now you are using one of your senses. Maybe you're hearing it as someone reads it out loud. Hopefully you're not smelling it or tasting it and I'm not sure you could feel it either. We use our senses continuously but are we continuously thankful for them?

Public Service Day

     Today is Public Service Day. There are a lot of different public services and some of those services may be used by you. And there are a lot of different people performing those services and some of those people may even be you. Serving one another is part of what we are created to do and for all that service, let us be thankful.

National Chocolate Éclair Day

     For those of you with a sweet tooth or for those who just like chocolate.... today is National Chocolate Éclair Day. I used to find these at a Mister Donut or a Dunkin donut and while I'm not a big fan of chocolates, I found these to be pretty good. So today let's be thankful for Éclairs.

National Flip Flop Day

     I do not where them but my kids do and they enjoy wearing them. Today is National Flip Flop Day so let's be thankful for flips flops.

American Eagle Day

     Today is American Eagle Day. How many times have I seen an Eagle. The Bald Eagle, the national bird, a symbol of power, a creation of God, an amazing bird. Are you thankful for the birds in God's Creation? Are you thankful for Eagles?

Juneteenth

     It is Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, A day to remember the ending of slavery in the U.S. and that is something to be thankful.

International Picnic Day

     If it weren't for the mosquitoes, today would be a great day for a picnic because it is International Picnic Day. While I haven't had many over the years, a good picnic is enjoyable. So let's be thankful for picnics today.

Eat Your Vegetables Day

     Eat your vegetables it is said, they're good for you it's said. Today is Eat Your Vegetables Day. One problem I have with this is the vegetables I'm willing to eat, my wife lies to tell me that they're not really vegetables because they are full of starch. Yes Vegetables are good for you, my taste buds don't want to agree though... Let's use today to be thankful for vegetables.

Father's Day

     It's Father's Day – a day to be thankful for our fathers and as we are thankful for them let's not forget the most important father of all – our Heavenly Father.

Fly A Kite Day

     I think it's in Mary Poppins where they sing song about flying a kite. Today is Fly A Kite Day and the wind is blowing but I don't have a kite. I do have memories of kite flying and the fun times had. I still remember putting a kite up so high it looked like a tiny spec and than it got dark and I couldn't see it at all but I eventually got it down. Today, let's be thankful for kites

Blood Donor Day

     Do you ever feel like you have been donating too much blood – to mosquitoes? Today is Blood Donor Day. While I have never donated blood, I know those who have and I know those who have needed it and for those who donate we can be thankful.

Weed Your Garden Day

     Today is Weed Your Garden Day but we have a problem. Our garden has not yet been planted. While I'm not sure who may be thankful for weeds, I know many are thankful for the gardens they grow in and soon we should have ours planted.

National Peanut Butter Cookie Day

     For some people, chocolate chip cookies are their favorite. I'm not one of those people but I do like peanut butter cookies and today is National Peanut Butter Cookie Day so today, let's be thankful for this kind of cookies.

Corn On The Cob Day

     It's Corn On The Cob Day. And time to be thankful for corn. I still remember going to get corn in the late summer early fall from the stand outside of town and I still remember a time when I helped process an entire pickup load of corn. Now my kids are the ones that are enjoying it.

Ball Point Pen Day

     Who uses pens? Who uses ball point pens? Who can imagine life without them? I use pens almost everyday and I have to admit that I'm pretty possessive of the ones I use. It used to be that I would loose a pen before I ran it out of ink, or it would explode on me but now I use a type of gel pen that I keep close and run out of ink. Yes, I am thankful for pens, are you?

Donald Duck Day

      Does anyone ever have fun trying to talk like Donald Duck? Today is his day, a day to be thankful for this cartoon character and his musing ways – just don't pick up his temper...

World Ocean Day

     Where would be with out the oceans. The vast majority of the surface of the earth is covered by oceans. They help to control climate in many ways as well as provide for travel, recreation, food, etc. I have never seen one in person but I know they are there and am thankful for them.

Donut Day

     For me, this is a great day for it is Donut Day and I like donuts, so does the rest of my family in fact, my youngest boy loves to watch how they are made by way of YouTube videos. I enjoy many different types and often which I was younger so I could get by with eating more. Let's be thankful for donuts.

National Yo Yo Day

     Up, down, up down, up down, up, down, up, down. Have you ever felt like a yo yo? I can't say I'm good with a yo yo but I can make them work for the most part. Simple in nature, a yo yo can be entertaining and help pass time away or keep a young child occupied. Let's be thankful for Yo Yo's today.

National Running Day

     Something I haven't felt like doing lately is running but I haven't always been like that. Maybe it's a sign of getting old. Have you ever stopped to say thanks that you have the ability to run whether it be for fun or necessity? Today is National Running Day so let's be thankful for running.

Cheese Day

     I like cheese. I like it on my chili, I like it on my hamburgers, I like it on my chili dogs, I like it on sandwiches, I like it in hot dishes, I like it by itself, I like it.... Today is cheese day a day for which we can be thankful for cheese.

Repeat Day

     It is repeat day. Have you ever had the fun of antagonizing someone by repeating everything they say? Have you ever been annoyed by someone repeating everything you say? Have you ever been shamed when a child repeats what you said? Have you ever experienced the joy of having a child repeat what you said. We should live to be great examples so when we are repeated we need not be ashamed bu joyful and thankful.

Radio Day

     Today is Radio Day – Do you have a radio? Do you listen to the radio? I listen to a variety of radio stations in a variety of ways with my favorite two being over the Internet and in the car. Today is radio day a day to be thankful for radios.

Heimlich Maneuver Day

     Have you ever been thankful for a maneuver? One that could possibly save a life? Because someone was chocking? Today is Heimlich Maneuver Day. I can't say I have ever performed it or needed it performed on me but thankfully it there if needed.

Heat Awareness Safety Day

     Are you thankful for heat? Some days it gets to hot and too hot is different for each person but when it does we need to be able to stay cool and amazingly, our bodies can do a great job of cooling themselves if we let them for there are dangers associate with extreme heat. So let's use this day to be thankful for heat and our bodies ability to cope with it.

Hole In My Bucket Day

     I remember a song about a hole in my bucket that needed to be fixed but it couldn't because there was a hole in my bucket.... How many buckets do you have with holes in them? All of them or you couldn't get anything in them.... Okay I'm weird some days but none the less, buckets are something we use often and something for which we can be thankful for.

Paper Clip Day

     A small piece of wire bent just so makes a useful tool we call a paper clip. Have you ever taken time to be thankful for such a thing? There are various sizes and styles and I'm thankful for them especially when I have a bunch of papers I need held together with out a staple.

Nothing Specific

     I have nothing specific to post on today as my list has a blank spot but that doesn't mean there is nothing for which one can be thankful today.

     Over the past weekend I have had many things to be thankful for including a safe trip, wonderful food, a friend who gave the kids motorcycle rides, two hours shopping with my wife and no kids, beautiful weather, a nap, new pants and the list goes on.

Masking Tape Day

     I do it more at work than at home but I do go looking for a roll of masking tape. At work we not only use it to hold things together but to protect metal surfaces from being scratched. Let's use today to be thankful for not only masking tape but all sorts of tape.
