National Chili Day

     I've been waiting all month for this day and it has finally arrived. Today is National Chili Day. I love a good bowl of chili and I enjoy going to chili cook offs. If all goes well I'm hoping to have a wonderful bowl of chili before this day is over. Yes, I'm thankful for chili.

Polar Bear Day

     They're white and they live where it's cold – like up in the Arctic. They are polar bears. Today is the day to be thankful for these creatures that God has made.

Carnival Day

     What is a Carnival? A carnival could be described as any merrymaking, revelry, or festival, as a program of sports or entertainment or a traveling amusement show, having sideshows, rides, etc.

     I can still remember the fun I have had on carnival rides at various fairs and the enjoyment of taking others on the rides as well even when it meant getting squished.

     Thank you Lord for carnivals and those enjoyable times.

Quiet Day

     Have you ever been thankful for quiet? Many times.... Sometimes its hard to find though. Today is quiet day so let's be quiet and thank God for quiet.

National Trading Card Day

     I can remember having summer jobs of mowing lawns, of getting paid, and heading to the local convenience store / gas station and spending that hard earned cash on trading cards, mostly of the baseball kind with the stick of bubble gum in the package. One thing I don't remember doing with the trading cards though is trading them. I'm not sure what ever happened to the cards but I know it was fun to collect them so today we say thank you for trading cards.

Diesel Engine Day

     They can be quite big and smelly but they have power and with them many things have been accomplished. They are diesel engines and today is the day to say thank you for them. I have never owned one but my grand parents at one time had a small one in their small car and it had some awesome diesel mileage ( I can't say gas, can I.)

World Thinking Day

     Some people love to think, I might be one of them. I like doing puzzles that require thinking. Of course, to think you have to be able to think and thankfully, God has given us that ability. Today we say thank you that we can think.

Love Your Pet Day

     Many people have one and today is the day to show your love for your pet. Currently we have a dog. We have had a cat, but the only pets I would ever truly say were mine were my fish. They are long gone and the tank that held them is cracked but I can say I enjoyed watching them. Pets can be good for us, so today we say thank you for pets.

Toothpick Day

     Toothpicks, those small wooden sticks with sharp points on their end used for cleaning teeth (hence the name) or for checking if cakes are done. At our house I think they are used more for the later than the former. I also know, that tooth pick work great in various art projects and for spreading glue. So, today we say thank you for toothpicks.

Mr. Roger's Day

     Growing up as a child, one of the television shows I used to watch on a regular bases was Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. Unhappy with how television was treating children, he started his own show which has been watched and loved by many. I'm thankful for Mr. Rogers and others like him who truly care about children.

Presidents Day

     Today is Presidents Day in the United States, a day originally set aside to honor George Washington, the first U.S. President. Now days it tends to be used to honor all presidents. While not every president that we have had has been great or liked, etc. We can be thankful for those who have worked hard for this country.

Random Act Of Kindness Day

     It's Random Act Of Kindness Day, a day to go about doing random acts of kindness. Have you ever stopped to be thankful that you have the ability to show kindness to others, have you ever stopped to be thankful for the acts of kindness others have done to you? Todays the day to be thankful for kindness.

Innovation Day

     It's Innovation Day and time to come up with something new or at least that's what innovation has in mind. Have you ever stopped to be thankful for the ability we have to innovate? To think up new things? Well, today's the day to be thankful for such things.

Gum Drop Day

     Who can remember the Kookaburra sitting in a tree eating all the gum drops he could see? Today is gum drop day, a candy that many love to eat. While I do not usually eat this kind of candy, I do it candy from time to time and I am thankful for it. So today we will be thankful for gum drops and other candies.

Valentines Day

     I asked my wife if she wanted anything special for Valentines Day – she said all she wanted was a pay check since it was payday. I give her my pay check every payday, that's not special, but she is. Today is a day we tend to celebrate romantic love and I'm thankful for that kind of love and for my wife.

Ash Wednesday

     For many people, this day represents the beginning of a period of prayer and fasting called Lent that leads up to Easter. I'm not going to focus on the ritual but I can say this – we should be thankful that we can pray, that we can talk directly to God and that we can fast so as to draw our selves closer to God.

Pancake Day

     Today is Pancake day. At our house, I must say this is not my favorite meal, yet when covered with maple syrup.......... When it comes to pancakes at our house, I think the favorite way they are liked is with chocolate chips melted into them. I've noticed other things mixed into them and placed on top of them. Let's be thankful for pancakes today.

White Shirt Day

     A few years back, I won some of these. They were white shirts (with a little bit of advertising on them.) Today is White Shirt Day but I'm not only thankful for the white shirts I have but every shirt I have, especially the ones my wife made for me.

Umbrella Day

     I have two of these in my closet, a place they will stay for now as I'm not sure I'll need them for a while since we are under a winter storm watch as I write this. But, when the time comes, out of the closet they will come. I sometimes wish I had more than just 2 and I sometimes wish they were bigger. Yes, I am thankful for umbrellas, are you?

Read In The Bath Tub Day

     It's Read In The Bath Tub Day. I know my wife has but I can't say that I have ever read in the bath tub. But even though I have not, I am thankful for bath tubs and for the ability to read – where ever I am. Are you?

Boy Scouts Day

      I never joined them but my brothers did and I've know many other who have. I know they have been a good organization for boys and for that I think we can be thankful.

Wave all your fingers at your neighbor day

     Once upon a time it was yodel for your neighbor day, today we'll just wiggle your finger as you wave to your neighbor and as you do, look at those marvelous finger that God has given you and than tell Him thank you for fingers that wiggle.

Monopoly Game Day

     While it has been quite some time since I last played a game of Monopoly, It is one of the games I enjoyed growing up. I can remember one night when we were suppose to be in bed, playing a game and almost being bankrupt but I held on and a couple hours latter I won the game. The game of monopoly is still a favorite of many and I am thankful for the game and the good times I've had playing it.

Weather Person Day

     Yeah, I know, they are sometimes wrong more than they are right but still we turn to them day after day to try and learn what the weather will be like. Today is Weather Person Day. I enjoy listening to them and learning about weather so I am thankful for these people.

Create A Vacuum Day

     Vacuums, they exist in a teenage boys stomach and they are never satisfied. Have you ever tried to create a vacuum? If you have ever drank from a straw, you have. When I think of a vacuum I usually think of the carpet cleaner that sucks the dirt up off the floor. Either way, have you ever thought of being thankful for a vacuum? We use them in many ways. Lets be thankful for their uses on this day.

National Carrot Day

     The snowman's nose is but a carrot. Maybe. Today is National Carrot Day. I must admit, I do not like carrots but that doesn't mean I or anyone else can't be thankful for these orange vegetables. I've even heard they're good for your eyes. So lets give a big thank You for Carrots.

Ice cream for Breakfast day

     've seen it happen at our house – Ice cream for breakfast, I've also seen it for lunch and supper and a snack any where in between. While it may not be a nutritious meal or snack, Ice cream makes for a special treat so today, let's be thankful for ice cream, when ever you eat it.

Bubble Gum Day

     Blow, Blow, Blow, Kaboom! Well, maybe not kaboom. Today is Bubble Gum Day. I must admit, I never mastered the art of blowing bubbles with gum but I know many people, or should I say kids, have. Today we can be thankful for bubble gum, its flavor and its fun.
