National Carmel Apple Day

     Today is National Carmel Apple Day. I don't think I'll be eating one though I usually don't see apples wrapped in carmel at our house but when this treat is had it is taking slices of apple and dipping it in carmel. What a great treat. Today, take time to be thankful for carmel apples.

National Candy Corn Day

     While I do not eat them often I like eating them. They are candy corns and today is national candy corn day. It is usually in the fall that I have some laying around the house to eat or use for bribery with little kids. Sometimes I have them in the spring in pastel colors as well. Today let's be thankful for such a sweet treat.

National Cat Day

     Meow, meow, meow. Today is National Cat Day. I can't say I'm fond of cats but we do have one or it has us. Cats are just one more creature that God has created for us to enjoy so let's be thankful for cats today.

National Chocolates Day

     Today is National Chocolates Day. I know many people like / love chocolates whether they be solid dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or filled chocolate with a variety of creams or nuggets. There are some I will eat and I can remember enjoying giving them away at Christmas or Valentines day. Today, be thankful for this sweet treat.

Mother-in-Law Day

     I have one and I have had her for almost 21 years – no, not my wife but my Mother-in-Law. A lot of people like to joke about and criticize mother-in-laws but I would rather appreciate them and be thankful for them. Today is Mother-in-Law Day and without mine, I wouldn't have my wonderful wife :) So Today I'll be thankful for my Mother-in-Law. If you have one, go ahead and be thankful for her as well.

Make a Difference Day

     Today is Make a Difference Day – a day to go and make a difference. How often do you make a difference? How often does some one else make a difference for you? If we stop and think about it, We are sure to come up with a list so why not use today to be thankful for those who make a difference.

National Denim Day

     Have you ever been thankful for the material used in the jeans you wear? Today is National Denim Day. Now I know there are more things made with denim than just jeans but jeans are the most common. So let's use today to be thankful for denim.

Food Day

     Today is simply - Food Day – I think we all eat food but are we always thankful for the food we eat. Let today be a good reminder to be thankful for the food we eat no matter what it is or how much of it we have.

Canned Food Day

     How many cans of food do you have sitting on your shelves? When you think of canned food – today is Canned Food Day – it could be in a metal can or it could be in a glass canning jar. AT our house we have both. Canning is a way to preserve food for later use or for ease as it is in some cases. Today, lets be thankful for canned food.

National Nut Day

     Today is National Nut Day, a day to be thankful for the people you work with, your family and friends, those little things you eat. I think peanuts which are not a true nut are our favorites but we eat a variety of them and they are good for you so we can be thankful for nuts.

Celebration Of The Mind Day

     Today is Celebration Of The Mind Day. How often do we celebrate our mind, the ability to use it, to think and to remember? The mind id a wonderful thing except maybe when I'm trying to sleep and it won't shut down :). Let's be thankful today for our minds.

National Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Day

     I have had many Sunday School Teachers over the years and I have been one in various ways as well. Today is National Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Day, a day to be thankful for those who dedicate themselves to teaching God's truths in a Sunday School Setting.

Bridge Day

     Today is Bridge Day. I suppose some people may think of a card game when they think of bridge but most of us will think of something suspended in the air connecting to points. Some bridges are rather small, like the ones the kids make with Legos in the living room. Others are miles long. I have traveled over many bridges and yes, I'm thankful they are there. Today let's be thankful for bridges.

Alaska Day

     Today is Alaska Day. No, I have never been there but I know those who have visited there and those who have lived there. The closest I have come is through pictures. I sometime think we get Alaska's winter cold when it gets done with it but we don't have the mountains. Today lets be thankful for this beautiful state.

Pasta Day

     Today is Pasta Day. Do you eat pasta? How do you like your pasta? At our house we eat it from time to time and I must say I think I like it best in Lasagna but I also enjoy it in spaghetti. I know some who like it in macaroni and cheese and I have had plenty of wonderful pasta salads. Today, lets be thankful for pasta.

Boss's Day

     Do you have one? Maybe you are one? Today is Boss's Day. No we may not always like the boss or being the boss as there is much responsibility that comes with the position but that doesn't mean we can't be thankful for them.

National Cake Decorating Day

     Today is National Cake Decorating Day. This reminds me of my childhood when for our birthdays we we get a specially made cake by our grandmother that was decorated up fancy. Rockets, race cars, bunnies, boats.... It seemed that whatever we wanted she could do. It can be fun to decorate a cake and it fun to eat one that has been. Today let's be thankful for cake, and those who decorate them.

Columbus Day

     Here in America we celebrate Columbus Day. We celebrate the day to honor Columbus' achievements in coming to America and in way, paving the way for others to come. One might be able to look at him for his perseverance to overcoming obstacles to make the voyage.. Let's be thankful this morning for those who persevere and discover great things.

National Chess Day

     It is a game I learned as a kid – at least the basics of it. It is a game that can make you think. It is chess and today is National Chess Day. I know for some chess has no interest but it is a game that can help sharpen the mind. So, today, lets be thankful for chess and other games that can sharpen the mind.

Farmers Day

     Would we even be here without them? It is Farmers Day. I know several farmers including family. They raise crops, they raise dairy, they raise.... the food that we eat. They harvest it etc..... I Listen to farmers at work and I've learned from them along the way and one thing I've learned is being a farmer is a lot of work so today, let's be thankful for farmers.

World Egg Day

     I used to be able to crack open two at a time in one hand without dropping any shell pieces. Eggs, I've cooked up many eggs in the past when I worked at a McDonalds. Eggs are wonderful for eating in a variety of ways and are great added to many recipes. Today, let's be thankful for eggs and they don't have to be green with ham.

World Sight Day

     You have two of them, or at least most people do and they are somewhere just above your nose. They are called eyes and they give you sight. Today is World Sight Day a day we can use to be thankful for our eyes, thankful for our sight. This time of year with the leaves turning volor there are many beautiful sights to behold as well.

National Cheese Day

     Where do you like your cheese? Do you like it on pizza? Do you like it on spaghetti? Do you like it on a hamburger? Do you like it in a hot dish? I could go on and on. Today is National Cheese Day and I think most people like some kind of cheese on or in something or maybe just by itself. Today, let's be thankful for cheese.

National Pierogi Day

     Today is National Pierogi Day. What I've learned is Pierogi are dumplings of unleavened dough – first boiled, then they are baked or fried usually in butter with onions – traditionally stuffed with potato filling, sauerkraut, ground meat, cheese, or fruit. I can't say that I have ever had one but for those of you who have, today is a day to be thankful for them.

You Matter To Me Day

     Today is a unique day. It is You Matter To Me Day. Are there people around you that you could say this to? Are the those that you matter to yourself? What about taking time to be thankful for those that matter to you. Thank God for those people and thank them as well.

World Communion Day

     What do you think of when you think of communion? Do you think of the emblems of bread and grape juice? Do you think of the blood that Jesus shed, do you think of Jesus body that was beaten in our stead? Do you think of the forgiveness God has granted us and the life we can have with Him? Are you thankful for any or all of what communion represents?

World Teacher Day

     Have you ever seen a sign that says “If you can read this – thank a teacher.” I have had teachers that have taught me and I have been a teacher in that I have taught others. And I'm married to a teacher as we home school are children. Today is World Teacher Day another day to be thankful for teachers.

National Taco Day

     Not so long ago I red of someone who wanted Tacos for their birthday and thought that is something I would want. Why wait till a birthday. Today is National Taco Day and a day to be thankful for tacos.

Look at the Leaves Day

     Today is Look at the Leaves Day. It is the time of the year when the leaves turn color before falling to the ground to be raked into piles to be jumped in. I have been able to get several beautiful pictures this time of the year from the leaves turning colors. On a recent trip I had wished I had brought a camera for some more but even though I didn't I was able to enjoy the color of the leaves. Let's be thankful for leaves today.

Guardian Angels Day

     We don't see them but they are there. Have you ever been thankful for angles, for the unseen beings that watch over us, that guard us? Today is Guardian Angels Day. I'm sure we can all come up with times when the only explanation for why things didn't turn out worse was an angle watching out for us.

Homemade Cookie Day

     Do you enjoy eating homemade cookies? Today is your day. At our house a rather large pile of homemade chocolate chip cookies were made yesterday and I'm not sure any are left. I have several kinds of homemade cookies I like to eat. Let's be thankful for homemade cookies today.
