Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene that finds numerous applications. The best known brand name of PTFE is Teflon by DuPont Co. We usually use it to keep things from sticking to cookware in the kitchen but I have learned that it can also be used as a lubricant and a protective coating.
Are you thankful for Teflon's non stick
ability? I guess we can still wonder how they get it to stick to
cookware....
